Folders
Adding a Folder
To create a new folder on your site, follow these steps:
- Select where you want your new folder to be housed.
- Select Add new... --> Folder from the side menu.
- Fill in the Title and Summary fields accordingly. Use the Categorization, Dates, Ownership and Settings tabs as necessary.
- When you are done, click the Save button to save your folder.
Note: New folders are set as Private until published. Also, published folders will appear in the navigation area (when viewing an item within the folder, such as a page) unless the folder is hidden.
Save Your Files
Deleting a folder from the CNM website is not recoverable. If you need to keep a copy of the folder's contents, download them before deleting.
Deleting a Folder
To delete a published folder, select the folder, then State: Published --> Submit for Deletion from the side menu.
The Web Team (MCO) will send you an email to confirm the folder deletion prior to removing it. Deleted folders cannot be recovered. If you want to move items within a folder to a different place on the site, please contact us.
Renaming and Hiding a Folder
To rename a folder or hide it from navigation, follow these steps:
- Go to the main page of your website and select Contents from the side menu.
- Find your folder and click on its cog icon. Then, select Edit from the dropdown menu.
- Rename the folder in the Title field.
- If you wish to rename the Short name (the name that will displayed in the URL), go to the Settings tab and update the name in the applicable field.
- If you wish to also hide the folder from appearing in the navigation tree, click Exclude from navigation, also found under the Settings tab.
Publishing Folders
Folders are private (unpublished) when first created, which means site visitors cannot view them. In order to make the folder viewable to the public, you need to publish it. Doing this will not publish pages contained in the folder, though; they will need to be submitted for review individually.

After this is done, State: Private will change to State: Published.
Selecting the Default View for a Folder
When a website visitor views a folder on your site, it is important to set one of the items within the folder as the default view. This means that when a website visitor views a folder, they will automatically land on one of the items (most likely a page) that you have assigned for a user to see.
To set an item as default view, follow these steps:
- Go to your folder, then select Contents from the side menu.
- Find the item that you want to set as the default view.
- Click the item's cog icon and select Set as default... from the menu.
The item will now have an asterisk next to it. This means that it has been set as the default view.
When a viewer selects your folder, they will now see the page or item you selected, along with the other items within your folder, as part of the navigation menu.
