MATH 1310 / MATH 0980 Jump Start

Ready for a challenge? Want to earn college credit for MATH 1310 while taking MATH 0980? If you place into MATH 0980, you can take this co-requisite course in which you will learn to solve algebraic problems involving polynomial, rational and radical functions. Best of all, you will finish MATH 0980 and MATH 1310 in one semester instead of two.

Students taking the Math 0980/Math 1310 Jump Start Learning Community will complete the course requirements for both classes. The content of the 0980 section will be tailored to support the content of the 1310 class, and no additional homework will be required for the 0980 class.

To qualify, students must have completed MATH 0930 or MATH 0970, or have an equivalent Accuplacer score, Elementary Algebra 41-65.

MATH 1315 / MATH 1096 Jump Start

This course investigates polynomial, rational, exponential and logarithmic functions, equations and expressions; systems of linear equations; and applications and modeling related to those topics. This material allows students to complete MATH 1315 without taking the prerequisite of MATH 1310. The course must be taken with corresponding section of MATH 1315. Students' grades for the corresponding sections of MATH 1315 and MATH 1096 will be the same.

Students taking the Math 1315/Math 1096 Jump Start Learning Community will attend one integrated 5-credit class, covering the same algebraic topics that are covered in all other sections of 1315, along with the prerequisite skills typically covered in Math 1310.

To qualify, students must have completed MATH 0940 or MATH 0980, or have an equivalent Accuplacer score, Elementary Algebra 66-103.

MATH 1330 / MATH 1396 Jump Start

This course covers core algebra skills needed to understand the concepts, computations, formulas, and graphs used in Math 1330. Topics covered are intended to integrate directly into Math 1330. These topics include: numeracy, proportional reasoning, algebraic reasoning, and functions. Content covered develops conceptual and procedural tools that are essential to statistical reasoning. Collaborative learning on key projects will be emphasized to enhance the development of critical thinking and communication skills.

Students taking the Math 1330/Math 1396 Jump Start Learning Community will attend one integrated 5-credit class, covering the same statistics topics that are covered in all other sections of 1330, but having extra time to discuss the prerequisite skills as they come up.
