NOT A ROBOT (humans wrote this) is an evening of 14 new plays by old souls. The plays run from 2 to 10 minutes in length and offer something for everyone: comedy, drama, slapstick, fantasy etc. in a variety of gripping worlds. An ensemble of 11 CNM actors play 57 diverse characters.

These 14 brand new, short plays were not written by robots. Humans wrote them; humans not afraid to share their sorrows, joys, longings, sense of fun and wonder at the challenge of being alive. These humans also happen to be CNM student writers from the fall 2018 theatre class, Intro to Playwriting.

A dedicated CNM student cast and crew are producing this world premiere. Tanya Palmer, currently head of New Play Development at the Goodman Theatre, tells us that a strong short play “transcends its brevity, giving us a powerful insight, a stunning image, a hilarious story, a surprising event—all in the amount of time it takes to walk around the block.” Fasten your seatbelts.
