Andrew Russell

Andy Russell
Andrew (Andy) Russell grew up in “that other Las Vegas,” the one in Nevada.  He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in History from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and completed his PhD studies at Arizona State University.  His research has focused on Japanese American communities of the Interior West and the challenges they confronted during World War II, and he has published several articles and book chapters on the subject.  Trained as a public historian, Dr. Russell also likes to contribute his time and energy to working on community history projects.  He has been a full-time instructor in the History Department at CNM since 2003, and he prides himself on “keeping the bar” where it should be for college-level instruction but also helping students to develop the skills and the “tricks” that will help them succeed in their history and humanities classes.
