Fast-Track Business Administration Associate Degree FAQs
What does 'Fast Track' mean?
Fast Track is a degree or certificate program using designed pathways and proactive advising mentoring and support enabling students to complete all required coursework and graduate more quickly than in traditional open enrollment programs.
What is a 'cohort'?
A cohort is a group of students that start and complete an entire degree program together. It also serves as an instructional method for student support as a group.
Will I be using Blackboard for these courses?
Each course (face-to-face and online) will have a Blackboard shell for you to complete and submit work in, as well as communicate with your peers and instructors.
If I fail a class during the program, can I retake it?
Students who fail a class will meet with their mentor team to discuss progress and develop a plan to retake the class on your own time and at your own cost. Please note that if you retake a class during the program, it will not be offered in a fast track format, and if it is a prerequisite for another course, it will have to be completed before you may be enrolled in the next course.
Will I have a faculty mentor?
Yes. Each cohort will have a faculty mentor team throughout the program.
What if I lose or damage my laptop?
Once the laptop has been issued, students will be responsible for their Windows laptop.
If I choose to leave the program before it is complete, can I get a refund?
Students will only receive a refund for tuition only (not fees) according to the College policy for tuition refunds if the class is dropped before the posted last day to drop deadline. View CNM's Tuition Rates. Please note that billing is generated at the beginning of each term, so if a student leaves the program they will not receive a refund for any tuition for work he or she may have already completed (and will not be billed for future terms as they are no longer in the cohort).
What types of dinner will be served?
Various nutritious and delicious meals will be served before the face-to-face sessions.
Will I be accepted into the program if I already completed some of the courses?
Students who have taken courses in the program prior to applying for the program will be accepted on a limited basis. Courses can be reviewed before the application process to determine eligibility.
How do I access my E-books?
Your e-books will be accessed through the Blackboard shell for the class.
How do I register for my courses?
All students will be registered by the School of Business Information and Technology before each term. After registration, self-pay students will be prompted to set up a payment plan for their tuition.
Can I use financial aid to complete this program?
Yes. This program is eligible for Pell Grant and standard Federal and State financial aid. Please make sure you have filled out the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) and that you have spoken to a CNM financial aid advisor. Students accepted to the program should make sure they are aware of their financial resources in order to fulfill their financial obligation in the program. Read more.
How is the program billed?
At the beginning of each of the blocks, students will be charged for the semester (i.e., 6 courses, books, and fees).

Are funding resources available if I'm unemployed or was laid off?
Possibly. There’s a chance that you may qualify for training services through the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA). If so, WIOA can often fund up to $2500 for training programs for Bernalillo County residents. Northern New Mexico residents could possibly qualify for up to $5000. Visit the New Mexico Workforce Connection at 501 Mountain Rd. NE or call (505) 843-1900 to meet with a counselor to learn more about how to qualify for WIA funds. If you’re not in Albuquerque, the NM Department of Workforce Solutions has other office locations around New Mexico. You can also inquire with them to learn about Vocational Rehabilitation and Trade Adjustment Assistance, which provide training services for other populations.
