The three-year program, one of the largest ever at the WTC, is projected to save the state more than a million dollars by lowering training costs, increasing employee productivity and introducing new technology. Most of the training will take place at NMDOT facilities located in Albuquerque, while some will be conducted at the WTC. Assessments before and after training will provide feedback to enhance the effectiveness of the program and suggest additional course offerings; several electronics topics have already been added to the curriculum.
Mark Pyszkowski, Business Account Representative at the WTC, spearheaded the contract development; Alicia West, Program Coordinator, handles the logistics of scheduling and makes sure all the courses run smoothly. Key participants at the NMDOT included Tom Trujillo, Highway Equipment Manager, and Joaquin Nielson, State Training Manager.
