Madrid expects to complete her associate degree in Welding at CNM in August 2017 and hopes to get a well-paying welding job.

“I am honored and humbled that I have been chosen to receive the 2016-2017 Glenn W. Oyler Memorial Technical Scholarship,” Madrid said. “I would also like to thank the American Welding Society for its support and encouragement of future welders. What an incredible gift.”

She applied for the scholarship with the help of the American Welding Society and CNM welding instructors. A team at the American Welding Society reviewed all applications and asked for two personal references, a personal statement, transcript, grade point average and a letter of financial need.
