Week Five of RecycleMania Focuses on Recycling Clothing

Mar 06, 2017
This week’s emphasis is on recycling fabrics/clothing.
“About 10.5 million tons of fabric per year goes into landfills, giving textiles one of the poorest recycling rates of any reusable material,” said Molly Blumhoefer, CNM’s Campus as a Living Lab and Sustainability Project Manager.
As part of RecycleMania, event organizers are holding a contest in which members of the CNM community snap a selfie wearing their best thrift-store clothes. Upload your picture to Instagram and tag it with #CNMthriftstyle.
The selfie that receives the most votes will take first place and a $25 gift card to Savers. There will also be a second-place winner. The selfies must be available for public viewing. The contest ends on March 10. For more contest details, email Molly Blumhoefer at mblumhoefer@cnm.edu.
