The CNM community is invited to attend and cheer on the competitors.

“The competition is a Jeopardy-style contest of knowledge with questions coming from the U.S. Department of Energy National Math and Science Bowl Database,” said Vicki Kelsey, president of the Math League, which is hosting the Knowledge Bowl. “There will also be some fun science fiction questions.”

Eleven members of the Math League will be running the Jeopardy board, handing out worksheets to the audience, and performing other behind-the-scenes tasks. The CNM Foundation is providing backpacks for the student volunteers and contestants.

Judges will be officers from the New Mexico Tech Society of Physics Students.

The audience, which will include many students in STEM classes, will use the worksheets to write down new facts they learned at the Knowledge Bowl, which will be collected, graded and then given to their instructors.

First, second, and third place trophies will be awarded to the winning teams. The trophies will be put on display in CNM’s School of Math, Science & Engineering main office.
