Rachel Black: 2016-17 Distinguished Faculty Member Award Winner

Jan. 26, 2017 -- Rachel, a full-time faculty member in the School of Math, Science & Engineering and a 2016-17 Distinguished Faculty Member Award Winner, has been instrumental in stimulating curricular improvements in math courses, creating the Math Associate Degree and its assessment plan, and revolutionizing the way course assessment occurs in the Math Department.

She was also instrumental in acquiring and distributing free access codes for Math 1330 students in the 2016 Spring Term, demonstrating her commitment to CNM students.

Overall, Rachel shows amazing dedication to the Math Department faculty through her leadership as Math Department Chair and as the Course Coordinator of college algebra. She has also worked with other course coordinators and has helped facilitate their growth as leaders. As a result, every course has either gone through an update of curriculum and design or is currently under revision. Rachel is committed to excellence in teaching and participates in multiple professional development events each year. She is certainly one of the most dedicated and innovative instructors in the School of Math, Science & Engineering.
