Governing Board Approves New Domestic Abuse Leave Policy

On Tuesday, the CNM Governing Board approved a new Domestic Abuse Leave policy that is effective immediately. The new policy allows an employee to take up to 14 days of unpaid domestic abuse leave, on an intermittent basis, for up to eight hours in one day.

Jul 16, 2015

The leave may be taken in order for the employee to meet with law enforcement officials, consult with attorneys or victim advocates, or to attend court proceedings related to the domestic abuse of the employee, a minor child of the employee, or a person for whom the employee is a legal guardian in accordance with state law. For more information on the new policy, see Section 8.21 in the Employee Handbook, or call Human Resources at (505) 224-4600.

CNM’s Employee Assistance Program, administered by Deer Oaks, is always available as a resource for employees and may be contacted via telephone at (866) 327-2400 or via e-mail at eap@deeroaks.com.  In addition, the following resources are also available to anyone experiencing domestic violence-related issues:

S.A.F.E. House grew out of an informal collaboration of community women who saw the need for physical safety for women who were being battered. This group developed a network of volunteers who offered their homes as a “safe” house. Today they offer a wide range of services to both women and men and their children who aren’t safe in their own homes.
