Forums on New Academic Calendar Proposal Under Way

A series of college-wide discussions on the future of CNM's academic calendar will be taking place through February.

Aug 09, 2016

A series of college-wide discussions on the future of CNM's academic calendar will be taking place through February. Faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in these discussions that will revolve around a significant recommendation that has been brought forth by the Academic Calendar Committee. The recommendation to be considered and thoroughly discussed is moving the college to a semester-based schedule, rather than the current tri-mester schedule.

The semester proposal would keep the fall and spring terms at 16 weeks, but would reduce the summer term from the current 12 weeks to eight weeks, which would better align CNM with UNM and APS. This proposal would have a variety of ripple effects around the college that need to be considered and discussed as the proposal is evaluated. CNM President Kathie Winograd and Vice President for Academic Affairs Beth Pitonzo will lead a series of forums that will provide opportunities for faculty and staff to provide their input. Vice President for Student Services Phillip Bustos and Vice President for Finance and Operations Kathy Ulibarri will co-host some of the forums. Below are the forums that are currently scheduled.
