Faculty Invited to Workshop on Open Educational Resources on Friday

October 26, 2017 -- CNM faculty are invited to attend a free workshop on a new Open Educational Resources (OER) pilot program Nov. 3. at 10 a.m. in the CNM Main Campus Student Resource Center, Room 103. OERs are free and shareable educational resources that can reduce students’ costs and increase access to required course materials.

Community colleges around the country are working to increase the production and use of OER materials, and CNM is  the first post-secondary institution in New Mexico to join the effort with its OER initiative.

The goal of the OER pilot program at CNM is to support faculty in the integration, adaptation, and creation of OER materials in an attempt to promote student success by reducing textbook costs. Various levels of extra compensation will be available to faculty selected to participate in the project. To preregister for the session:

  1. Login to myCNM.
  2. Click on the “Employee” tab on the far right.
  3. Under the “CNM Talent Management” section, click on “Employee Learning.”
  4. Select “Browse for Training.”
  5. Under the “Subject” heading on the left of the screen, click on “CTL-Faculty Training.” Find the “OER Pilot Program Workshop” and click “Request.” This will register you for the session, and you will receive an email notification. You will also receive a reminder two days prior to the event.

The application form can be downloaded from the workshop registration page under the “Details” tab. The application deadline is Nov. 10. Applications will be reviewed by a committee and grantees will be notified Nov. 21.
