CNM Celebrates International Women's Day March 6

The event will take place from 1-5 p.m. on Main Campus in the Student Resource Center, Richard Barr Boardroom (Room 204). The public and CNM students and employees are invited.
The afternoon’s schedule of speakers follows:
1-1:10 p.m. -- open address by Magda Martinez-Baca, president of the CNM chapter of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges
1:10-1:40 p.m. -- Ann Lyn Hall, executive director of CNM Connect, “The Success and Challenges of Female Students at CNM”
1:45-2:15 p.m. – Lt. Claire McCarthy, Albuquerque Police Department, “The Contribution of Women in the New Mexico Police Force
2:20-2:50 p.m. – Diane Evans-Prior, director of School of Nursing in the CNM College of Health Wellness & Public Safety, “Health Challenges of Women in New Mexico”
2:55-3:25 p.m. – Mila V. Padilla, Native American Women of UNM, “The Socioeconomic Roles of Native American women in the Zuni Community”
3:30-4 p.m. – Sgt. Liz Thompson, Albuquerque Police Department Family Advocacy Center, Homicide Department,“The Domestic Safety of Women in New Mexico”
4:05-4:35 p.m. – Yolanda Teran of Ecuador, Latin American Women of UNM, “The Political Contribution of Women in Latin America"
4:35-5:45 p.m., Closing Address
Fatima Tannagda, political science instructor, led the organization of this first CNM celebration of International Women's Day.
