The event was one of several Enactus USA regional competitions conducted across the United States in March and April. The CNM team will advance to the national level of Enactus competition at the Enactus USA National Exposition May 21-24 in Kansas City, Mo.

CNM students participating were Jill Silverthorne, Jesse Siebach, Javier Serna, ErinMarie Wester, Charlotte Tierney and Hugh (Crow) Mohon. Other team members included Kim Wong, faculty advisor, and Marty Epstein and Rob Stone, faculty support members.

“We couldn’t be prouder of these students,” Epstein, a CNM accounting instructor, said. “They invested countless hours on their projects and came out on top.”

Starting in fall 2012, the students worked on several community/entrepreneurial projects, including Tax Help NM, BikeABQ and a documentary on a local autistic woman. At the regional competition they described their work in a 17-minute presentation that was enhanced with video and power point visuals.

The culmination of the Enactus program is an annual series of competitions that provide a showcase for teams to present the results of their projects and be evaluated by business leaders serving as judges. Teams compete first at the regional and national levels, then at the international level when the national champion teams from each country meet at the Enactus World Cup.

The Enactus organization is active on more than 1,500 college and university campuses in 48 countries.
