Culinary Students Take Honors at Chocolate Fantasy Fundraiser

March 23, 2016 -- Current students in CNM’s Advanced Baking and Pastry class and several soon-to be CNM graduates took honors at the 2016 Chocolate Fantasy fundraiser. It was hosted by the New Mexico Museum of Natural History Foundation on March 12 at Sandia Resort and Casino.

“We did well in the competition and came away with several awards,” said Victoria Sánchez Martínez, Academic Affairs Director for Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management. “It was a fun event.”

A CNM student team consisting of Maya Cameron, Robin Dibble, Brooke Hartman, Patrick Mascarenas, Heather Pratt and Edward Torres took third place in the “Most Artistic and Best Tasting” Division, as well as the "Student and Schools" category with their “Galactic Bomber” creation.

CNM graduates who won awards were Xavier McAfee, Savory Fare Café, Bakery and Catering, won second place in the Restaurants and Caterers category for his “Across the Universe" creation; and Jessica Saienni, Los Poblanos Inn, earned third place in the “Best Tasting Samples” division in the Restaurants and Caterers Category.
