Catron Allred Named to the New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department’s Advisory Council

Jun 17, 2020

Catron Allred, CNM’s Director of Education Programs and Human Services, will be one of a few, statewide educators selected to be part of a new prestigious council that aims to build a more equitable, cohesive, and effective early childhood system in the state.

“We received over three hundred applications— and we are delighted to inform you that you have been selected to serve on the Council. Your experience and insights will be invaluable as we work together,” wrote Claire E. Dudley Chavez, the New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department’s Director of Policy, Research and Quality Initiatives, in a recent offer letter.

Catron says it’s an honor to be selected. “CNM has the largest early childhood program in New Mexico and my focus on the council will be to provide quality professional learning opportunities for the existing early childhood workforce as well as access to higher education for all early childhood educators.”

“There is a thriving early childhood community in the state and the advisory council will be essential for connecting the needs of the community to policy and action. It also provides an opportunity to partner with other organizations in the community and higher education to provide support beyond the department. The department cannot do it all, so collaboration will be key to moving forward with high quality early care and education for New Mexico’s kids.”
