Bernalillo County Sheriff, a CNM Alum, to Speak on April 1

March 27, 2015 -- Bernalillo County Sheriff Manuel Gonzales, a graduate of CNM’s Criminal Justice program, will speak about his education and career path on Wednesday, April 1, from noon to 1 p.m. in Smith Brasher Hall, Room 100.

His talk is part of the School to Careers Justice Speaker Series.

Gonzales began his career as a patrol deputy in the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department in 1989. Over the next 21 years, he worked his way through the department serving as sergeant, lieutenant, captain and ultimately was unanimously appointed sheriff by the Bernalillo County Commission when the previous Sheriff resigned. He was sworn into his first term as Sheriff of Bernalillo County on Jan. 1.

Gonzales has an associate degree in Criminal Justice from CNM. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in Management with a minor in Specialization in Law Enforcement.
