Prior to his talk, four CNM student authors will read from their work. The student speakers are:

  • Hilary Broman -- Hilary is an English major and the senior staff reporter for the “CNM Chronicle.” Through her writing, Hilary has found that words have the power to change minds, hearts and the world.
  • Johanna Guerrero -- Johanna has always enjoyed writing and telling stories. In middle school, her poem “An Image” appeared in the 14th edition of “Young Poets of the Southwest.” At CNM Johanna has rediscovered her love for writing.
  • Emerald Lueras -- Emerald "Riot" Lueras is a self-described "Chicanx artist and poet” who will be graduating from CNM with an Associate of Liberal Arts and attending the University of New Mexico in the fall.
  • Alora Haff -- Alora lives in New Mexico and occasionally writes short stories to entertain herself and friends. She swears it is totally fiction. Absolutely none of these things ever actually happened. Promise.
