Ann Brooks: 2015-16 Distinguished Faculty Member Award Winner

For Ms. Brooks, a part-time faculty member in the School of Business & Information Technology, teaching is the process of helping students develop an enthusiasm for learning, as well as the skills to allow them to become life-long learners. In the classroom, she creates a welcoming environment, opens students’ minds to new ideas and concepts, helps students develop their critical thinking and analytical skills, and uses multiple tools and methods to assess student learning.

Ms. Brooks mainly teaches blended online courses, where she has built a true learning community by incorporating numerous videos to support the material in the textbook and she also uses the discussion boards as a means for students to interact and help each other. Additionally, Ms. Brooks continues to grow as an academic professional by presenting and attending conferences, being on the board of the Nusenda Credit Union, participating in the New Mexico Business Articulation Consortium, and more. She does an amazing job of teaching Accounting in the School of Business & Information Technology.
