Andrew Tibble: 2015-16 Distinguished Faculty Member Award Winner

Mr. Tibble has been a key faculty member in the School of Adult & General Education for over 20 years and is passionate about teaching and helping his students succeed. In addition to his excellent work as a full-time faculty member, he regularly takes the lead on curriculum issues and can be counted on to roll up his sleeves and help with any project.

Mr. Tibble believes that teaching is not a profession in which one can stand still, and he is continuously working on new and interesting approaches to teaching Reading and College Success courses. He pays attention to the “ABC’s” components of teaching, focusing on making his courses “Affectively welcoming, Behaviorally predictable, and Cognitively challenging.”
Additionally, Mr. Tibble has been a leader in the effort to establish Learning Communities at CNM; he works to connect Reading and College Success courses to courses in other disciplines and schools; he has been a curriculum chair and a department chair; and he was the president of the Faculty Union for several years. Mr. Tibble is an exemplary teacher and a wonderful colleague.
