Internal Space Reservations to Use New Process for Scheduling

October 24, 2017 -- Starting Friday, Oct. 27, all faculty and staff use of rooms, labs or other CNM spaces for meetings, conferences, or other activities will require adherence to a new scheduling process. The original launch date, scheduled for the start of the Fall Term, was delayed. The new process is being implemented to make the scheduling and use of CNM spaces easier and more efficient, effective and transparent. It will also support college sustainability efforts. The new system won’t affect the way class sections are scheduled, but it will apply to usage of computer labs.

Faculty and staff will be able to directly reserve standard classrooms and conference rooms that are available through Astra without the need to put in a request and wait for the request to be approved. Other support requests, such as specialized rooms, AVS equipment, parking, maintenance support, or inclusion on the CNM Events Calendar, can be made through a request form in Astra.

A new web page with how-to information on using the new Astra system will be available Friday. Training on the Astra Schedule system is also available now through Employee Learning. To sign up for the training, go to myCNM, click on the “Employee” tab and then click on “Employee Learning.” Look for “ITS – Introduction to Astra Scheduling.” Users who have been previously trained on Astra don’t have to take the new training, but are welcome to do so.

Astra Schedule is the official space scheduling system for the college and is in the process of being updated to a cloud-based system with a new interface, which will improve user-friendliness, performance, and speed of the application. It will also allow for easier management of the system.
