The honor society was founded to provide meaningful recognition to deserving students studying Literacy, English as a Second Language, and High School Equivalency courses. These newest members have the distinction of being among CNM’s very best.

To qualify for NAEHS membership students must demonstrate dependable attendance, cooperative attitude and a strong work ethic. In addition, all of these students have shown remarkable perseverance in achieving their educational goals.

The ceremony was held at the Student Resource Center Richard Barr Boardroom, with Jesse Lovato serving as Master of Ceremonies. Director of Adult Basic Education Carol Culver and SAGE Dean LouAnne Lundgren officiated. Also attending was Vice-President for Academic Affairs Sydney Gunthorpe.

The students were awarded an NAEHS Society certificate, a recommendation letter from NAEHS headquarters for employment and promotion purposes and a recommendation letter for financial assistance, should they wish to continue their education. Family members and friends of each student helped with the pinning of an honor society lapel pin during the ceremony. Finally, students were reminded that they are lifetime members of the NAEHS.  A celebratory reception for the students, their families, friends and teachers followed the event.

The students honored were Robert Lee Dustin Douds, Najibullah Farhad, Jiling Li Bandy, Urai Fazio, Juana Estrada, Reyna Alfaro Ortiz, Jaqueline Alamos Fernandez, Jerome Ndabirirorere, Frozan Popal, Cherisa Barker, Joseph Valencia, Corey Eldred, Miriam Villasenor Lara, Sulaf Alkwaz, Dora Tremillo Gonzalez and Belem Landa.
