Nothing is more important to CNM than your safety. To help students and employees learn more about how to stay aware and stay safe on all CNM campuses, the college's Security team will be hosting Campus Safety Awareness Week from Monday, Sept. 24 through Thursday, Sept. 27. Here's a list of activities:

  • Saturday, Sept. 22, The Pit parking lot, VIN Etching: The Albuquerque Police Department will be hosting a VIN Etching event from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Northeast Parking Lot of The Pit. You can have the VIN number of your vehicle etched into your windshield for free -- it helps your car to be identified and returned if it's stolen. It's also free.

  • Monday, Sept. 24, Main Campus, Helpful Tips: Stop by information tables outside various buildings including Smith Brasher Hall, the Student Resource Center, the Student Services Center and the Public Safety Building to learn helpful tips about safety, security and parking at CNM.

  • Tuesday, Sept. 25, Main Campus, Pancakes and 'Hello' Celebration: Come by the Public Safety building between 8:45-10:45 a.m. and eat some pancakes while celebrating the CNM Security Department's “Hello” campaign. During the campaign, officers have been saying hello to folks across all campuses as a way to make themselves available, approachable and increase communication. By Sept. 25, the officers will have said a total of 150,000 “hellos" to people on campus.

  • Wednesday, Sept. 26, All Campuses, Have a Conversation with an Officer: Security officers will be out between 8-10 a.m. to answer any questions you might have. Please feel free to get your security and safety questions answered.

  • Thursday, Sept. 27, Main Campus, Texting & Walking Obstacle Course: Come learn about the dangers of texting and walking. Between 1:30-3:30 p.m., the Security team will set up an obstacle course outside the Public Safety Building that people can try to navigate while texting on their phones. Stop by and take the texting challenge.

  • Thursday, Sept. 27, Main Campus, Protect Yourself: Please attend the "Protect Yourself" session, which will be held in Smith Brasher Hall, Room 102, from 3-4 p.m. Security officers will teach you how to always be aware of your surroundings and how to avoid being the victim of crime.

  • Thursday, Sept. 27, Main Campus, Info & Ice Cream: Security officers will be out providing information and ice cream!. Keep an eye out for the Security golf carts.
