CNM Celebrates Student Success at Graduation Ceremony May 5

Bernalillo County District Attorney Raul Torrez will be the keynote speaker at CNM’s Spring Graduation Ceremony that will take place at noon on Saturday, May 5, at Tingley Coliseum.

Born and raised in Albuquerque, Raul Torrez was formerly a federal prosecutor and senior adviser in President Obama’s Department of Justice. He worked for nearly a decade as an Assistant United States Attorney, Assistant Attorney General and Assistant District Attorney. Mr. Torrez graduated from Harvard University, went on to receive a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and attained his law degree from Stanford University. The student graduation speaker is Sophie Toth, a dual credit student who will be graduating from the College & Career High School with a high school diploma and from CNM with associate degrees in Political Science and Liberal Arts.

More than 1,000 graduates will don caps and gowns at the ceremony. And more than 8,000 family and friends are expected to be in attendance to cheer on the graduates.

Entrance into Tingley Coliseum for the ceremony is free. There will be a $5 parking fee per car for families, friends and supporters of the graduates who are not participating in the ceremony. Parking is free for graduates and employees participating in the ceremony, but they must display their parking pass to gain free entry.

Graduation Parking Info

Graduation attendees are reminded to arrive early due avoid traffic issues.

Employees who will be participating and wearing regalia in the graduation ceremony will receive a parking pass that provides free access to parking through Gate 3 of EXPO New Mexico, which is accessible from the intersection of San Pedro and Copper.

Some additional parking information for graduates, family and friends

  • Graduates, family members, friends and supporters all enter Tingley Coliseum through Gate 8, located on Louisiana Blvd., just south of Lomas.
  • Parking for the Graduation Ceremony will be free for graduates who are participating (walking) in the actual ceremony. Graduates will receive one free parking permit from the Student Activities Office that will need to be displayed on their vehicles rearview mirror. If the parking permit is not displayed, a fee of $5will be charged for parking.
  • A $5 fee will be charged for all other vehicles attending the ceremony.
