CNM Desktop Computer and Related Equipment for Remote Work
If you've taken your CNM desktop computer and/or related equipment home for remote work, take a photo of the computer tag number and related assets. Email the photos to CNMPurchasing@cnm.edu for inventory tracking.
Work-from-Home Technology and Online Learning Options
If you are in need of off-campus technology, including online collaboration tools such as WebEx, or hardware or software technology, please get your supervisor’s approval and email itsservicedesk@cnm.edu.
You may hold remote class meetings during your scheduled face-to-face class time using tools such as CNM Learn Collaborate, Zoom, WebEx, or Skype. Please keep in mind issues of access, netiquette, and privacy. For support, contact ITS at (505) 224-4357.
Connect to CNM's Network Virtually
Virtual desktop technology is available if your device cannot connect to the CNM network. Please contact the ITS Service Desk at itsservicedesk@cnm.edu or call (505) 224-4357 to be connected to a virtual desktop. A list of applications included in the virtual desktop is located here.
Staying Safe Online
Email Vigilance
Cybercrimes are prevalent during vulnerable times:
- Do not open any link in an email asking you for personal information, to make purchases, or to wire money.
- CNM will never ask you for your login credentials (username and password) in an email.
- If you’re suspicious of an email, mark it as 'phishing', via the email's options menu.
Cyber Attacks - Zoom Bombing
With the increased use of online meeting platforms (i.e. WebEx, Zoom) due to stay-at-home guidelines, a new cyber-attack called “Zoom Bombing” is on the rise. In such an attack an individual obtains video teleconference login information and disrupts the meeting in various ways, sometimes asking for private information or providing malicious instructions.
Please be careful, just as you would with suspicious emails. Here is a press release from the FBI.
ITS has updated its WebEx training to include how to make private meetings, to avoid such attacks. Sign up for this training in Talent Management, searching for "WebEx" from the list of options.
