Governor Appoints Vice President Tracy Hartzler to State Investment Council
Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced this week the appointment of two new members to the State Investment Council, which includes CNM Vice President of Finance and Operations Tracy Hartzler. The appointments are effective immediately, though require Senate confirmation. The State Investment Council manages over $26 billion in assets, including two large permanent funds that receive money from state taxes, royalties from oil and natural gas production, and revenue from other activities on state trust land. The Land Grant Permanent Fund is one of the largest funds of its type in the country. The SIC will distribute nearly $1 billion to New Mexico public schools and other beneficiaries in the upcoming fiscal year that begins July 1. Tracy Hartzler, who joined CNM in 2015, was previously the principal analyst for the New Mexico Legislative Finance Committee. She also has experience as the special assistant attorney general at the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission and was counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs. She earned a cum laude undergraduate degree from St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Ind., a master of education from the University of Virginia and her law degree from the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
