Understanding by Design (UbD): Power of Summative Assessments in Theory and Practice

Joshua Krause and Kelley Peters, Presidential Fellows of Curriculum, guided fifteen instructors including Asa Stone in their curriculum design for the 2013-2014 winter intersession Distance Learning courses by utilizing a structured process (i.e., UbD) for identifying learning outcomes and aligning course assessments to learning outcomes.

During the session, the presenters will provide an overview of UbD and its effectiveness on student learning based on the case study of PSY11105, Introduction to Psychology, and its before and after transformation.
