New Student

These are the steps for a new student:

Apply for financial aid ( each year as soon as you complete your federal income taxes or in January for the new academic year (Fall, Spring, Summer).

There is a Priority Date of May 1. For Bridge, there is a deadline of June 1.
See your financial aid file in your myCNM account > Financial Aid tab within about 10 days.
Takes 4-6 weeks for the entire process to be completed.
Check your  myCNM account for file progress.
Visit the website
Be in a financial aid eligible program in eligible classes.
Check with Financial Aid before making any changes in your program or class schedule.

Go online to and apply to be a CNM student.

Click the Apply... button. That will lead to a web page with important information and a link to the online application. (No cost to apply.)
Be sure to save the username and password that is provided at that time.
Go to your myCNM account for all CNM business. (Problems getting into your account?... Contact the Service Desk at (505) 224-HELP or email ).

Complete the Orientation in myCNM.

Take the Accuplacer placement exam or submit SAT or ACT test scores to the Admissions Office (Address... CNM Admissions,  525 Buena Vista SE, Albuquerque, NM 872106). Also, be sure to request official transcripts from each college you have attended. Transcripts must be sent directly to the CNM Student Records Office for evaluation and will not be accepted if opened by the student.

Visit with an Academic Advisor on an appointment basis.

Register for classes in myCNM.

Your registration date will be located in your myCNM account  Registration/Grades tab.
Check the Course Catalog (link on the left) for course prerequisites .
Check the Course Catalog (link on the left) for co-requisites .
Be aware of Waitlist information.
Be aware of Coordinated Program Entry programs.

Note the deadline to pay for classes: 
You must set up your method of payment within 24 hours of registering for classes.

Pay for your classes at a Cashiers office.

Use the payment plan (myCNM) , the deferment for financial aid, some credit cards, cash, check, or money order.

Be aware of parking (see maps for free and paid parking lots). There is paid and free available.

Get your books.

Visit the Bookstore online or in person to get books and supplies.
You can rent books, pay with cash, charge them or use your financial aid deferment.
