Dr. Katharine W. Winograd

Hello and welcome to CNM!

Thanks for stopping by to check out our website. I hope you’ll take some time to explore CNM’s site and learn more about all the terrific ways that CNM can serve you.

Remember, we are here to help you achieve your educational and career goals, so please don’t hesitate to contact us. We want to help you succeed!

For our friends in the business community, we're also here to help serve your workforce needs through our educational and workforce training programs. And for our beloved community at large, we are also here to support you and to be an ally in raising the quality of life for everybody in central New Mexico. At CNM, we love partnerships and contributing to the greater good.

With five campuses serving our region, as well as the Workforce Training Center, the Advanced Technology Center, the STEMulus Center and FUSE Makerspace, CNM provides the most comprehensive curriculum and workforce training options of any community college in New Mexico.

We offer associate degrees and certificates in 90 fields of study, as well as a variety of short-term workforce certifications. CNM also offers more online courses than any other public postsecondary institution in the state. And CNM has transfer agreements with all of the state's four-year universities, so students seeking a bachelor's degree can finish two years of a bachelor's degree at CNM before transferring to a university. CNM's tuition is also about one-fifth the cost of a state university.

For high school students, we have the largest dual credit program in the state. CNM's dual credit program allows high school students to take CNM classes that simultaneously count for college and high school credits, which can save a lot of time and thousands of dollars on a college education. Tuition and textbooks are free to dual credit students. Some high school students earn a CNM associate degree or certificate at the same time they graduate from high school.

In partnership with Albuquerque Public Schools, CNM's Main Campus is also home to the very successful College & Career High School. CCHS has been one of the top-ranked high schools in the state each year since it opened in 2013. In 2018, CCHS received an "A" rating from the New Mexico Public Education Department for the fifth year in a row -- CCHS also scored second highest in the annual rankings among all public high schools in 2018, and third highest in the state among all high schools including charters. CCHS students typically spend half of their day taking APS classes, and the other half taking CNM classes that count for both college credit and high school elective credit.

In regard to support services for our students, CNM is a trailblazer. Beyond academic advisors, we have a unique collection of special student advocates – Academic Coaches, who are here to encourage and help students overcome obstacles and personal life challenges. Our coaches are part of Connect Services, which provides an array of academic, financial and personal support systems for students in need. CNM won the national Student Success Award in 2013 from the American Association of Community Colleges, in part for its innovative Connect Services model that has been emulated around the country.

CNM is also a trailblazer in student technology. In 2018, CNM became the first community college in the country to provide students with digital diplomas through blockchain technology, the same technology that spawned bitcoin. CNM graduates can securely share their diplomas and transcripts with employers and social media sites like LinkedIn straight from their smartphone.

At CNM, we are constantly striving to advance our Vision of "Changing Lives, Building Community." We understand that each time we help a student become a college graduate, it not only greatly improves the student's prospects for the future, it benefits their entire family and helps strengthen our community and economy.

Please don’t hesitate to call 224-3000 if you want to learn more about what we can do for you. We are here to help!

Best wishes,

Kathie W. Winograd
